Quarterly Newsletter: April 2024

From our Pastor: Fr Cole Webster: “I cannot thank everyone enough for all their hard work in bringing dignity and beauty to our Holy Week and Easter celebrations! Thank you all who decorated our churches, served in liturgical ministries, and welcomed our guests and visitors.’

Saint John Kanty/Saint Adalbert’s parishioners and friends: We are very humbled and grateful to those who attended our Holy Week and Easter Masses/events. And to those who supported our first joint coffee fundraiser and joint 50-50 raffle: your support was beyond expectations…it is truly remarkable what happens when parishes link together!! Our coffee sale profit was $680 from sales of 130 bags, and our 50/50 was split three ways:

1st $585; 2nd $300; 3rd  $100…our church share was $980!

  • Plant Sale for Mother’s Day: Order deadline April 28!
  • May 3: Meat Raffle
  • June 2: JPII Schola Cantorum at Saint Adalbert
  • June 9: Chicken BBQ at Saint John Kanty

What is the cost of running our church? Many people have been working hard to reduce operating costs. However, as with all of us: utility and maintenance costs have increased. The cost of insurance alone is $31,000! We could balance our budget with a weekend collection of $1,500. Please consider setting up online giving on a recurring weekly or monthly basis and if blessed abundantly…consider increasing your present offering.

“If you would like to offer a one-time or recurring gift to help sustain our ministries, go to the “donate” tab on our website (http://www.saintjohnkanty.com/donate/) or scan the QR code found in this newsletter with your smartphone. With a reasonable level of regular support, we can keep our parish active and strengthen it for the future. “

 – Fr  Cole Webster

We are still accepting donations for our Special Project for the installation of energy efficient lighting on the church exterior. Through your generosity we have received about one-half the cost of this project, which is $3,300. This investment will pay for itself in about 21 months. This much needed update to the church will illuminate its beauty and also be an asset and example in the neighborhood.

50-50 Raffle, which will take place at the Chicken BBQ: Tickets can be purchased after Mass or by phoning the rectory (716-893-0412 weekday mornings between 8:30-10:30) and should be returned to Saint John Kanty no later than June 5. Purchase one ticket for $5 or three for $10. Please support this raffle if you can…good luck!

Their ambition is to learn and perform the great masterpieces of Catholic choral repertoire, focusing on a cappella works for mixed voices.
