Friends of Saint John Kanty,

Please read the important information below. If you are able to support landmarking SJK, we would be very appreciative. Unfortunately, time is short since the meeting is on Tuesday, so hopefully you can email your letter no later than Monday morning. A sample letter is below.

A crucial public hearing for the Save Our Sacred Sites Local Landmarks will take place on Tuesday, October 22 at 1 p.m. at City Hall in the Common Council Chambers.
Your support is vital to the landmarking of Saint John Kanty Church! The advantages to landmarking SJK are protecting our historic building from demolition or major alteration.
Please prepare your statement in support of SJK: what it means to you, what ties you have, any story you wish to share, as well as any emotional attachments with SJK. Please keep it concise …every voice matters! See the email addresses below to send letters of support to Councilman Mitch Nowakowski, with a copy to Phyllis Yarborough, Mitch’s Senior Legislative Assistant.
Your support is vital to the landmarking of Saint John Kanty and other historic churches in Buffalo! As a landmark building our historic church would be protected from significant alteration or demolition.

If you can, join the meeting in person (see above for date/time). Together, we can ensure that our sacred spaces are recognized and protected.

Thank you for your support and commitment to this important cause!

Dear Councilman Nowakowski,
I am writing in support of the historic landmark designation by Preservation Buffalo Niagara of Saint John Kanty Roman Catholic Church, established in 1892. Saint John Kanty Church has been an important part of my life (continue with your own statement here).
Although the Diocese of Buffalo has decided to close Saint John Kanty in 2025, as a landmark building our historic church would be protected from significant alteration or demolition. I join the appeal to support the historic landmark designation of Saint John Kanty Church.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CONSIDERING SUPPORTING OUR EFFORT FOR LANDMARK DESIGNATION!
