My heart is hurting for all of you as a result of this week’s announcements. Like a parent, I want to say something that will ‘make it all better.’ What words are there to say? While I am still at a loss, I want you to all know you are loved and I am here to walk this painful journey with you. If you would like to meet, vent, pray together please do not hesitate to contact me. As I too am grappling with this restructuring news, what keeps coming to mind over and over again is YOU. YOU PERSONALLY. I have loved getting to know you, minister with you and pray with you this past year. Undoubtedly, things will slowly change, but I can only hope and earnestly pray that we will preserve our relationships. That is what we have control over—the ability to come together to see familiar faces, pray together, share memories, and make new ones. Together we can, and will, figure things out. So we are all on the same page, I have copied below what I have received from the diocese and what was distributed on our social media. We have until June of 2025 to effect any official changes and our trustees and I will be receiving more specifics at a meeting this Tuesday.

Greater East Buffalo Family of Parishes Alumni Reunion on September 14!

Greetings Alumni and Friends!

The Saint John Kanty and Saint Adalbert communities are extending a warm invitation to their alumni for a special day of remembrance, fellowship, and celebration. On September 14, 2024, former students will have the opportunity to walk down memory lane, revisiting the halls and classrooms that shaped their early years.

The event will commence with a tour of the Apartments at the Lyceum, the former Saint John Kanty School, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. This will be a chance for alumni to see the transformation of their old classrooms into modern living spaces while reminiscing about their school days. Saint John Kanty Church and rectory will also be open during the same hours.

The Saint Adalbert School alumni will also have a similar opportunity to explore the Response to Love Center, previously Saint Adalbert’s School, during the same hours.

Following the tour, a Mass will be held at 5:30 PM inside Saint John Kanty Church, offering a moment of spiritual reflection and community prayer.

For those who may have strayed from the church or are no longer part of the Catholic community, this event serves as an open invitation to reconnect, not just with the institution, but with fellow alumni and the shared heritage that binds them together.

The day will conclude with a gathering at the Adamski Center of St. Stanislaus Church, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Here, alumni from Saint John Kanty, Saint Adalbert, and other neighborhood schools will unite for an evening of camaraderie. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, fostering an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.

This event is more than just a reunion; it’s a testament to the enduring bonds formed in these halls of learning and faith. It’s an invitation to celebrate the past and share stories of the present. All are welcome to join in this day of reflection and fellowship.
