“If you would like to offer a one-time or recurring gift to help sustain our ministries, go to the “donate” tab on our website (https://www.saintjohnkanty.com/donate/). With a reasonable level of regular support we can keep our parish active and strengthen it for the future.”

CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE ROAD TO RENEWAL/DIOCESE OF BUFFALO

In response to the recommended closure announcement: With the approval of Fr. Cole the Trustees and Parish Council are working together to submit a counter proposal to the Diocese to appeal its recommendation and keep Saint John Kanty/Saint Adalbert active and strong. We feel that our dramatic economic turnaround this fiscal year with a sound plan for the next, coupled with our upward-trending vitality, high visibility location, parishioner engagement and historic/architectural value merit reconsideration.

  • We are working to get our church locally landmarked with the Buffalo Niagara Preservation Board. The application is in progress and will be easier because we are already on the National and State Historic Registers.  Although local landmarking does not prevent closure, it would mean that our church building could never be demolished, which is a deterrent to sale.
  • What Can YOU Do? ATTEND MASS! DONATE! We are operating in “business as usual” mode. Our Saturday Mass returns on August 3 at 5:30 p.m.  Please join us for Saturday Mass or for our existing Sunday Mass at 10:15 a.m. As with all of us: utility and maintenance costs have increased. We need $1,200 in our weekly collection to balance our budget…that’s an average of 60 people giving $20 a week. If you currently give less and are able to do so, please consider an increase. If you give more, thank you and please continue your support. If you aren’t giving: please consider starting and give what you can. Our bills don’t stop when you don’t come to Mass, so please consider making up for missed weeks, or sign up on our website (https://www.saintjohnkanty.com/donate/) to make a recurring donation. We are running very professionally and responsibly with our expenses – your money will not be wasted!
