“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” ~ Audrey Hepburn Our church and grounds should be an example for our hopefully re-emerging neighborhood!! In the spirit and hope of this, Saint John Kanty Parish will be one of many sites for the 2nd Annual East Side Garden Walk (the east side is a BIG area!), taking place on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Our small gardening committee has been working for a number of years to beautify the grounds, and the gardens in our ‘back yard’ are something you should take a little extra time before or after Mass to look at, and perhaps even spend a few minutes reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation.  The garden group is on site Saturday mornings and would love to have a few extra hands for garden maintenance, if you could spare even one hour, but even if you cannot help, please take the time to see our ‘hidden gardens’!

At a meeting of the Parish Council this week dates were announced for upcoming Parish activities: Sunday, July 28: 3rd Annual Parishioner Appreciation Hot Dog Roast; Sunday, August 4: 2nd Annual Saint John Gualbert/Saint John Kanty Summer Picnic at Cheektowaga Town Park; September, date to be announced: Meat Raffle at K of C, Union Road, Cheektowaga; Sunday, October 6: Polka Mass & Harvest Dinner with Basket Raffle; Saturday, November 3: Team Pierogi will be selling pierogi and placek at the Holiday Craft Show at Depew High School; Weekend of December 7-8: Holiday Pierogi & Placek Sale in Kanty’s Kitchen.
