The Feast of Saint Blaise is Wednesday, February 3. Throats will be blessed at this weekend’s Masses as well as at 8:30 Mass on February 3.

Saint Blaise was the bishop of Sebaste in Armenia during the fourth century. Very little is known about his life. According to various accounts he was a physician before becoming a bishop. His cult spread throughout the entire Church in the Middle Ages because he was reputed to have miraculously cured a little boy who nearly died because of a fishbone in his throat. From the eighth century he has been invoked on behalf of the sick, especially those afflicted with illnesses of the throat. – Wikipedia

On February 7 join us at Mass in celebration of Scout Sunday. Troop 107 has been in existence at Saint John Kanty since 1925…that’s 96 years! Scouts and leaders will assemble for Mass as well as serve as readers during Mass. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will not be an open house as in previous years. Thank you for supporting Troop 107!!

What does it mean to light a candle for someone? To light a candle for someone indicates the intention of saying a prayer for another person, and the candle symbolizes this prayer. Consider lighting a prayer candle for someone: $3.00 per candle. (photo courtesy of Christopher Byrd, parishioner and school grad)

Be sure to look at our prayer list in the bulletin…there are so many people to pray for! Please remember to pray for those who you promised to, those who have no one to pray for them, and those requests that remain silent out of fear or embarrassment.

If you have a name to add to our parish prayer list, just call the parish office (893-0412) during regular office hours.

The good news is: the days are getting longer!

See you in church…have a wonderful week!!
