Bulletin: April 5, 2020

Bulletin-4-5-20 Please click on the link to read this week’s bulletin. Please note that by decree of Apostalic Administrator Bishop Edward Scharfenberger THERE WILL BE NO BLESSED PALMS AVAILABLE IN CHURCH (our bulletin went to press before Bishop Ed’s cancellation was received).

Blessing of Easter Foods: It is traditional to bring food to church on Holy Saturday to ask God’s blessing. This year, health concerns makes this largely impossible. Therefore, gather your foods which will be used for the celebration of Easter, and pray:

Bless, O Lord, this creation that it may be a means of salvation to the human race, And grant that, by the invocation of Thy Holy Name, it may promote health of body, and salvation of soul in those who partake of it, and bless all who are unable to gather with us this day. Defend us from all illness, that we may again join together to thank You for your goodness and mercy, through Christ Jesus, our Risen Lord (adopted from the Book of Blessings).

The journey to the church to have your basket blessed is a nice tradition, but it is the lifting of our minds and hearts to the Lord in praise and thanksgiving which is the essential element of this tradition. Happy Easter!

Our Pierogi Sale is still going on! But…because of Covid-19 our sales for this, our church’s major fundraiser, are greatly reduced and will surely result in a shortfall of funds raised for our parish. Please continue your support of our Pierogi Ministry if you can. We are now offering drive-through pickup. Please help out by sharing this information with family and friends!

Pierogi, placek (yes…we have a limited supply this weekend!) and Last Supper chocolate bars, made by volunteers from St Adalbert’s, are available on Saturday: 2-5, Sunday: 9:30-noon, and weekdays between 9-11 in the Rectory. Please phone in advance if picking up from the Rectory (893-0412). If possible, exact change would be appreciated ($10 for 1/2 dozen large pierogi; $6 for placek; Last Supper chocolate bar $2; Bunny suckers: 75cents ea or 3/$2).

While the church remains closed, if at all possible please continue to make your weekly offering by mail or by visiting when the church is open for prayer and meditation (Saturdays 4-5; Sundays 10:30-11:30).
In these trying and uncertain times the continued success of our parish depends on everyone’s prayers and financial support.

Will you miss going to the seven churches on Holy Thursday? Here is a link to a virtual tour, which includes a nice history by the author, and it is pleasing to see that SJK’s Last Supper statuary is the lead photo in the story! Saint John Kanty will also appear as one of the churches visited.
