Alumni Blast: mid-March/April 2018

Our annual Lenten Pierogi & Placek sale is in full swing and continues Saturdays 3-5 and Sundays 9:30-Noon through Palm Sunday. We have many nice gifts in our large basket raffle too. As in other years we are selling Farmers cheese pierogi and sauerkraut pierogi. Our placek is baked fresh weekly and is flying off the shelf!

On Palm Sunday we will be serving a light lunch and the basket raffle will take place.

So get your pierogi on and stop by SJK to get these items for your food basket for blessing on Holy Saturday! $9 for 6 large pierogi; $6 for placek.

There are still two weeks in Lent to take in Stations of the Cross on Friday and Gorzkie Zale on Sunday at 10, preceeding the 10:30 Mass. Stations will be at 3 p.m. on March 16, but on March 23 The Voices of Mercy/St Luke’s Mission of Mercy will be with us singing their original music for the 14 Stations. A soup supper follows in Kanty’s Kitchen. A free will offering will be collected and donated to St Luke’s. Please think about joining us for this special Stations of the Cross!

You will likely remember Gorzkie Zale from your school days at SJK…a sung reflection and meditation in Polish on the passion of Christ and the sorrows of His Blessed Mother. Beautiful music by our choir and organist!

Here is our Holy Week & Easter Triduum schedule, and we hope to see you as your time permits:

The Sunday after Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday. Please see the information below for the celebration of this Sunday at our Saint Adalbert site. The regular Sunday 10:30 Mass will also take place at Saint John Kanty… Please note that the 3 p.m. Mass fulfills your Sunday obligation. Fr. Mike Burzynski, SJK’s permanent administrator, will be the principal celebrant.

For those who wish to learn more about what Catholics believe and why…starting on April 7 at 2 p.m. parishioner Brenda Myc will lead us through a weekly program on the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church from locations around the Holy Land and experience the beauty, goodness and truth of the Catholic faith so that you can apply it to your life and share it with others. Via the miracles of today’s electronics Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, is Program Host. There is no charge for attending the 10 week program; weekly attendance is encouraged but not mandatory. Space is limited so register early at stjohnkantybflo@gmail.com or by phoning the parish office (893-0412 between 9-noon M-F). Feel free to invite a family member or friend. We will meet in the Parish Center. Refreshments will be available.

HAPPY DYNGUS DAY!
