Alumni Blast: January 2021

The story below, published by Broadway Fillmore Alive, provides information on the Redevelopment of The Lyceum. Community input is requested via a Zoom meeting January 14 at 6 p.m. By clicking on the link you will be able to read further details of the proposed redevelopment and Zoom meeting.

Please consider being a part of the January 14 meeting…as much for Saint John Kanty Parish as for the Broadway-Fillmore area!

St. John Kanty School-Lyceum building to be converted into apartments

Our church continues to be open for morning and weekend Masses. We are still able to safely seat up to 300 people at Mass while remaining compliant with Covid guidelines.

On Christmas Eve we were very happy that about 80 people attended 10 o’clock Mass. Unfortunately we were unable to have our choir sing Koledy, but our music director played and sang the traditional hymns that we all know and love.

We also have a slightly different ‘look’ this year, with a smaller stable being located on the altar (above photo). Also new is the infant Jesus below, which was the only survivor from the fire of ’55, which started in the Creche. The infant’s head can be seen (just barely) in the photo of the old Creche.

Prior to Christmas we had a very successful drive through Pierogi & Placek sale. Team Pierogi produced about 3500 pierogi and over 200 placek.  We will start preparing for our annual Lenten Pierogi & Placek sale soon. Hopefully we will be able to go back to selling from the kitchen and also have our traditional basket raffle!

Your support of our past events has been very much appreciated and is especially vital at this time.

We will gratefully receive your prayers and if possible your presence as we continue to operate through these troubling times.
