The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Via Dolorosa: The Way of the Cross, is a narration of the final hours in the life of Jesus Christ on earth that continues to provide spiritual conviction for every Christian and application to our lives. The Stations of the Cross serves as a stark reminder of the humble manner in which Jesus was willing to set aside any privilege of deity in order to provide a path to salvation through his salvation. Please join us in church for Stations at 3 p.m. on Fridays during lent.

Gorzkie Zale will take place on Sundays before Mass, at 10 .M. Join us for this Catholic devotion, which is a sung reflection and meditation in Polish on the Passion of Christ and the sorrows of His Blessed Mother.

At Mass 10:30 on Sunday, February 18 the 125th Anniversary Time Capsule will be blessed by Fr Mike. Coffee hour to follow in Kanty’s Kitchen…please join us!

Since the mid-1980’s a small group of parishioners has been getting together at Saint John Kanty Parish to make pierogi; the tradition has continued and grown for over 30 years. Under the capable leadership of Diane Czajka, a graduate of Saint John Kanty School, more than 20 volunteers, many graduates of the school, are busy two days a week making pierogi, and when Lent starts, placek is baked on Friday. Cheese pierogi and ‘kraut pierogi are boiled and frozen and sold in packages of six. People come from all corners of the city as well as the suburbs to take home some Polish comfort food. Our Pieogi & Placek sale takes place in the school cafeteria, “Kanty’s Kitchen”, Saturdays and Sundays starting February 17, before and after weekend Masses: 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 12 on Sunday through Palm Sunday, March 25. On Palm Sunday, a light lunch is available for purchase and a large basket raffle takes place. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the ongoing needs of the parish’s 125-year-old church building.

Our pierogi sale traditionally draws a large number of alumni, so come on down to Kanty’s Kitchen to pick up some comfort food during Lent…you might just have a mini-class reunion!!
